Some moms just know how to pull off the rock star power moves. (In case you’re wondering, I’m not one of those moms. I do pull off some awesome mediocre mom moves. You know, keeping kids alive and such.)
I had a friend growing up whose mom was one of those aforementioned ‘rock star power moms’. I will never forget waking up to the smell of biscuits and chocolate gravy in the morning.
I don’t think I could have been more excited if she had pulled out a sparkly rainbow unicorn for me to take home. …I probably still would have opted for those biscuits.
They’re basically the trump card to making any day awesome.
The critical part to making these super easy biscuits is grating the frozen butter – and keeping it frozen until you’re ready to mix it in. This makes it easy to spread the cold butter throughout the dough and create little pockets of steam during baking that make your biscuits flaky and all things delightful.
And with only 4 ingredients in these biscuits (okay, so I can’t resist throwing in a pinch of salt too) you can’t really go wrong, here! The trick is to keep everything cold until baking and handle the biscuits as little as possible.
If the gravy gets to thick for you, just whisk in a little warm milk. I happen to like a thick chocolate pudding smothered all over my biscuits. But who doesn’t??
Breakfast, brunch or dessert – these are a knock-out punch! Serve them up warm and just drop that mic.
Even if you never enjoyed these as a kid, licking that chocolate gravy off the plate will make you will feel like one.
